Percy C. Cannon Jr.

Percy C. Cannon Jr., 86, of Sugar Hill, passed away Saturday, July 8, 2017.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Percy Cannon Sr. and Effie Cannon; infants, George and Lucy Cannon; sister, Mildred Coley; and brother, J. W. Cannon.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Eula Copeland Cannon, Sugar Hill; children, Janice and Myles Bolick, Acworth, Jeanette and Cass Petros, Indianapolis, Indiana, Robert and Connie Poteete, Winder, and Frances and John Watson, Canton; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth McDonald, Norcross; brother and sister-in-law, Theodore and Connie Cannon, St. Augustine, Florida; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Cannon was born Nov. 16, 1930, in Clayton. He was a graduate of Lakemont High School in Lakemont. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force with 12 years of service, having served during the Korean Conflict.

He was retired from Western Electric in Atlanta after 29 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Rest Haven in Rest Haven, and a member of Lakemont Baptist Church. He loved NASCAR.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home, with the Rev. Landy McDaniel officiating. Graveside service and interment followed at 2 p.m. in Wiley Cemetery in Wiley, with military honors. The family received friends at the funeral home on Monday, July 10, 2017, from 5-8 p.m.
