Bobbie Rothberg

Bobbie Rothberg, 80, of Dillard, passed away May 3, 2017.

Born in New York and raised in Miami Beach, Florida, Bobbie graduated from the University of Miami with an Elementary Teaching degree and later earned a master’s degree in Counselor Education. She taught every grade at the elementary school level and worked the last 10 years as a school counselor. She received outstanding teacher and counselor awards, as well as The Teacher Terrific award from Disney World. 

Upon her retirement, 800 children from her school sang “What SHE did for love,” the song from the Broadway musical “Chorus Line.” 

After retirement, Bobbie and her husband, Bob, of 58 years moved to Sky Valley in the North Georgia mountains. She continued her love for helping young people as a volunteer for the local CASA organization, advocating for abused children. She served on most of the charity boards in Rabun County by providing her skills and talents of connecting effectively with others, while using her boundless energy and spirit to move organizations forward. 

Bobbie was an outstanding artist, but her real passion was for her children and her three grandchildren. Bobbie is survived by her husband Bob, three children, Rick, Ron, his wife Christine, Nanci and her husband Chris, along with her three grandchildren Morgan, Tye and Ella.  

Bobbie traveled extensively around the world with Bob and their many friends. Recently, returning from Patagonia, South America, but Italy was always her her favorite destination with New York and its Broadway shows as a close second.  

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to either  Northeast Georgia CASA, FAITH-inc.org or the Sid Weber Cancer Fund.
