Mrs. Janell Mobley Tomlin Mattox, 93, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016. She was born in Burke County to the late Ernest Christopher and Nellie White Mobley on Feb. 7, 1923.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Bill Jones Tomlin, in 2002.

Janell lived and worked in Waynesboro for many years. She retired from the Bank of Waynesboro after 28 years of service as a bank teller. Her later years were spent in Barnwell, South Carolina.

She loved spending time at the beach and the mountains with her family, traveling with friends, going on church trips with her First Baptist Church family but most of all she showed her love to her family and friends in the kitchen. Her table was always a gathering place with a delicious feast for everyone to enjoy.

Janell is survived by her husband of 13 years, Robert H. Mattox of Barnwell, her sons, Bill Tomlin and wife Sherry of Otto, North Carolina, Stephen Tomlin and wife Jane of Rabun Gap, and Chris Tomlin and wife Regina of Richmond Hill; her daughter Jone Tomlin Wiggins and husband Dan of Waynesboro; her brother Tom E. Mobley and wife Mary Alice of Girard; her grandchildren, Daniel Wiggins, Carson Wiggins, Elizabeth W. Grant, Casey T. Knight and Victoria T. Houston; her great-grandchildren, Rylan and Eliza Wiggins, Gibbs and Isabella Grant and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held Dec. 13, 2016, in Waynesboro with the Dr. G. Al Wright officiating.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 853 N. Liberty St. Waynesboro, Ga. 30830
