Margie Marie McCoy

Margie Marie McCoy, 82, of Clayton, passed away Dec. 7, 2016, in Mountain View Health Care. 

She was born in Kinston, North Carolina, to the late Lloyd Futrelle and Ethel Gay Futrelle. She was the widow of John Howard McCoy. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, a son, Mike McCoy, a brother and four sisters. 

She is survived by two daughters, Juanita Shope of Mountain City and Anita “Tinker” Ludovici (Leo) of Winchester, Virginia; two sons, David McCoy (Deborah) of Chicago, Illinois, and Johnny McCoy (Regina) of Perkinston, Mississippi; one sister, Grace Futrelle of Kinston, North Carolina; a special extended member of the family, Gail Dills McCoy of Mountain City; six grandchildren, Keith (Keri), Sheena, Nicole, Jamie, Jonathan, and Matthew; and four great grandchildren. 

Margie was a homemaker and owner/operator of M&M Bookstore for a number of years as well as being employed in the florist industry. She was of the Methodist Faith. 

The body has been cremated. Burial will be in the Sugar Fork Baptist Cemetery in Franklin, North Carolina. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. The family is at their respective residences.

The family asks that memorial donations be made, in her memory, to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
