James Andrew Stephens

James Andrew Stephens, 73, of Sidetrack Lane, Tiger, died Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2016, at his home. 

Born in Rabun County on March 13, 1943, he was the son of the late John Hines Stephens and Mary Catherine Watts Stephens. He was the husband of Lurlene Wilbanks Stephens of the home. 

Mr. Stephens was a retired insulator with National Asbesto’s Worker Co. He belongs to his 48 National Asbesto’s Union and was a member of the Joy Baptist Church. 

He was preceded in death by an infant brother, John Hines Stephens., and by a great-grandson.

He is survived by his wife, Lurlene Wilbanks Stephens, of the home, by two daughters, Janice Pruitt (Robert) of Tiger, Tammy Fowler (Doug) of Winder, five grandchildren, Anthony Patterson, Elizabeth Pruitt, Gregory Pruitt, Kimberly Pruitt and Charlie Mayfield. Eleven great-grandchildren also survive. 

Funeral services were at the Eastside Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home on Friday, Oct. 7, 2016, conducted by the Rev. Richard Dugas. Burial was in the Wiley Presbyterian Cemetery. 

The body was at Hunter Funeral Home, where visitation was in the Eastside Chapel on Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016, from 6-8 p.m. The family was at home on Sidetrack Lane, Tiger.
