My burial office will be held at St. James Episcopal in Clayton on Monday, May 23, 2016, at 11 a.m. Interment will be held immediately following the service in the St. James Memorial Garden.
I request that anyone wishing to make a memorial donation to please direct it to either the St. James “Miracle Fund” (a fund that benefits people in dire need and extraordinary circumstances in Rabun County) or FAITH’s Power House for Kids in Toccoa (an advocacy center for victims of child abuse).
The Lord brought me into this world on Dec. 3, 1941, in Tampa, Florida. He called me home on Tuesday, May 10, 2016, following an eight-year battle with breast cancer. I was blessed to die in my bed in Rabun Gap, surrounded by my family.
I graduated from Plant High School in Tampa and received my Associates of Arts degree from St. Pete Junior College. Licensed as an R.N., I worked in various hospitals and nursing homes in Tampa Bay.
I married Lee Robertshaw on May 31, 1963, and soon began a family. We raised our three children in Tampa and were active members of St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church.
I was a lifelong member of the E.C.W., Daughters’ of the King and American Business Woman’s Association and was fortunate to complete a four-year Theological Education by Extension program offered by University of the South, as well as the Clinical Pastoral Education program offered at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Encouraged by my mother and grandmother, I began sewing at the age of 3 using “sewing cards.” My love for sewing was enlivened while creating clothes for my children, and furthered through cross-stitch and embroidery. In the 1990s, quilting became my passion. More than the quilting itself, my quilting friends and companions became my greater joy!
I will be forever grateful to the staff at Long Street Clinic, my doctors Beck, Dixon and Nash, my Mountain Laurel Quilt Guild family, Bee Sharp and Bee Artful “girls,” whose friendship and support brought such joy to my life and to my friends at St. James. All of you were rays of sunshine for me during my darkest days.
I was preceded in death by my parents, Barrett and Margaret Weaver (nee Bridges) and brother-in-law, Wallace Scott.
I am survived by my beloved husband, Lee Robertshaw, and our three adult children: daughters, Lisa and Michelle Robertshaw, and son, Jason Robertshaw (and his wife, Patricia, and my precious grandson, Andrew). My dear sisters, Jennifer Weaver and Carol Scott, also survive.
My beloved Lee, Lisa, Michelle and Jason. My beloved friends and family. How precious you all have been to me. Knowing and loving each one of you was the success story of my life. I know we will meet again, joyfully, on the other side. Until then, love one another, be kind and do not forget to welcome strangers — for they may be angels unaware.
