Glenda Philyaw Burrell, 72, of Tiger, died at her home Sunday evening May 5, 2019 Glenda fought a tough fight against colon cancer.
She was born in Charleston, W.V. and came to Rabun County when she was 14-years old, when her mother moved back here. She was the daughter of the late Ralph Philyaw and Laura Shirley Philyaw. Glenda had retired recently from Dr. Charles Pennington’s office. She attended the Wiley Church of God.
Glenda was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Burrell and by her parents, Ralph and Laura Shirley Philyaw. and is survived by two sons, Anthony Wall of Toccoa, Ga., and Shane Wall of Tiger, Ga.; one stepson, Ronnie Burrell of Clayton; one daughter, Kaitlin Wall of Tiger (a granddaughter raised in the home), Ethan Wall of Toccoa, Ga., Ryan Burrell of Clayton, Ga.; two granddaughters, Carleigh Edwards, of Homer, Ga. And Megan Burrell of Clayton.
Funeral Services were at 1 p.m. Wednesday May 8, 2019 at Liberty Baptist Church by Rev. Adam Wright and Rev. Carlton Walker. Burial followed in Liberty Cemetery.
The family is at the home in Tiger, and sends a special thanks to Stephens County Hospital in Toccoa, Ga., to Pruitt Hospice in Toccoa, Ga., and Visiting Angels of Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
