Edward Eugene Griggs, 69, of Tiger, passed away on June 30, 2017. He was the son of the late Lester Lee Griggs and Francis Chrestine Stewart Griggs Spivey.

Eddie was known for his love of people and was a friendly person who never met a stranger. He worked for 30 years for the Dekalb Transportation Department as an operation signal supervisor before his retirement, as well as working on the electrical wiring on other various projects.

He loved his family, and was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed the outdoors, spending time hunting, fishing and gardening. He would spend his spare time listening to 1950s music or whittling wood.

In addition to his parents, one brother, Wayne Griggs and one sister, Linda Spivey Rigsby, preceded him in death.

His survivors include his wife, Jane Griggs, of Tiger; two daughters, Cindy Griggs Adams (Chris), of Dahlonega; Shannon Griggs Pickard (Will), of Chickamauga; three brothers, Larry Griggs of Cumming, Chris Griggs of Andalusia, Alabama, and Jeff Spivey of Andalusia; and five grandchildren, Jessica Pickard, Nathaniel Pickard, Molly Pickard, Savannah Adams and Belle Adams.

The family received friends Sunday, July 2, 2017, from 2-6 p.m. at the Beck Funeral Home in Clayton.

A funeral service was held Monday, July 3, 2017, at noon in the chapel of the Beck Funeral Home. Interment followed at the Rocky Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Tiger.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Edwards honor to the Rocky Grove Baptist Church, 6900 Bridge Creek Road, Tiger, Georgia 30576.

Beck Funeral Home, in Clayton, was in charge of the arrangements. An online memorial register book is available at www.beckfuneralhome.com.
