Jacqueline Cannon ‘Jackie’ Houck

Jacqueline Cannon “Jackie” Houck, 77, of the Warwoman Community in Clayton, died Monday, May 22, 2017, in Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. 

She was the wife of Roy Houck of Clayton.

Born in Rabun County on May 26, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Irvin and Bessie Swafford Cannon. She was a secretary for the probate judge office, the Rabun County Board of Commissioners and the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office, as a deputy sheriff for about 36 years. She was a member of the Peoples Baptist Church.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, Irvin and Bessie Cannon, by a grandson, C.J. Houck, a brother, Leroy Cannon and a sister, Inez Harden.

She is survived by her husband Roy Houck, two sons, Henry Houck (Carrie) of Clayton, and James Houck, two sisters, Wilma Jean Trusty of Mountain City, and Barbara Jenkins of Dillard. One half-brother, Tommy Cannon of Hall County, and one stepbrother, Robert Blalock of Alpharetta, and three grandchildren, Carly Burrell, Brittany Houck and Matthew Houck also survive. 

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Eastside Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home, with the Rev. Raymond Page officiating. Burial will be in the Antioch Methodist Cemetery in the Warwoman Community.

Visitation was in the Eastside Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, from 6-9 p.m. The family is at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Henry and Carrie Houck, on John Houck Road, Clayton.
