Clarence O’Neal Wilson

Clarence O’Neal Wilson, 90, of Highlands, North Carolina, passed away Monday, Nov. 21, 2016.

Born in Macon County, he was the son of the late Hubert and Theodocia Wilson. Mr. Wilson was a veteran of the U.S. Army in the Korean War, serving until Aug. 23, 1956. He served as Deacon of Clear Creek Baptist Church for the past 34 years. He loved to work in wood.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ella Mae Nix Wilson; one daughter, Janice Allmond (Jimmy); two sons, Roger Lee Wilson (Anna) and Edwin Wilson (Lisa) all of Highlands; one sister, Frances Reed of Satolah, GA; five grandchildren, Jason Woods, Adam Woods, Matthew Wilson, Alana Fisher and Leslie Bradham and seven great‑grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Friday, Nov. 25, 2016, at Clear Creek Baptist Church. The Rev. Jim Kinard officiated. Burial will be in the Clear Creek Cemetery with military graveside rites. Pallbearers were Jason Woods, Adam Woods, Matthew Wilson, Charles Reed, Craig McCall and Steve Nix. The family received friends Friday from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., prior to the service at the church.
