Vera Maxine Sanders, 90, of Lakemont, Ga., died Sunday, May 19, 2019 in The Oaks at Scenic View, Baldwin, Ga. She was born on Aug. 24, 1928 in Washington County, Ind., the daughter of the late Edwin and Ethel Blevins Atkins. She was a homemaker and a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Tiger, Ga.
Mrs. Sanders was preceded in death by a son, Ellis Edward Sanders, Jr., her parents, Edwin and Ethel Atkins, and by three sisters, Gengvieve Sanders, Thelma Robinson and Margie Fuson. She is survived by a son, Jerry Sanders (Kelly), Lakemont, Ga., a daughter, Shirley McNeil (Patrick) of Rochester Hills, Ind., three sisters, Geneva Jackson, Pekin, Ind., Frida Rainer, Wabasld, Ind. And Fleta Garris of Birdseye, Ind., nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be Sunday, May 26, 2019 at 3 p.m. at the Liberty Baptist Church in Tiger, Ga., with the Rev. Scott Cates officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 26, 2019 for visitation from 2 p.m. until the funeral hour. The family is at their respective residences.
