Esly Ophas Greene

Esly Ophas Greene, 92, formerly of Clayton, passed away Aug. 28, 2016, in Seneca, South Carolina. 

He was born Feb. 4, 1924, in Chesterfield, South Carolina, and was the son of Esly Office Greene and Minnie Smith Greene.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Lorraine Estes Greene.  

He is survived by two sisters, Bonnie Melton of Seneca and Violet Westbury of Lexington, South Carolina.

Mr. Greene served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He had a master’s degree in education and was an educator for the School for the Blind in St. Augustine, Florida. He was a member of Clayton Baptist Church.

In honoring his wishes, his body was donated to the Emory School of Medicine. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016, in the Beck Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Joey Thompson officiating.
