Dannette Mary Marsengill Hopper, 76, of Rabun Gap, passed away Aug. 7, 2017, at Angel Medical Center. Her family surrounded her as she went to be with the Lord.
She was born the daughter of the late Webb Marsengill and Parilee Giles Marsengill in Franklin, North Carolina, in 1940. She lived her entire life in the Rabun Gap area, and was a member of the Betty’s Creek Baptist Church. Dannette also attended the Mountain Grove Baptist Church for 14 years. Everyone who knew her knew of her love for the Lord and her love for her family. In her professional life, she was a clerical worker for the textile industry.
In addition to her parents, two sisters preceded her in death, Geraldine Lang and Brenda Vinson.
Her survivors include her husband, Bruce Hopper, of Rabun Gap; her two children, Monyah Hopper Cathey (Kenneth) and Joshua Hopper, both of Rabun Gap; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The family received friends Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017, at the Beck Funeral Home in Clayton, from 6-8 p.m.
A funeral service will be held today in the Chapel of the Beck Funeral Home at 1 p.m., with the Revs. Larry Cannon and Everett Wilson officiating. A committal service will follow in the Betty’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Dannette’s honor to the Rabun County Senior Center, 2832 Old Highway 441 S., Tiger, Georgia 30576.
