Homer Lee Billingsley, 78, of Scaly Mountain, North Carolina, died Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at his home.
Born in Macon County, North Carolina, he was the son of the late James (Jim) Newton Billingsley and Lillie Hazel Brown Billingsley. He was a farmer in the Macon County community.
Homer was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Lillie Brown Billingsley, by brothers, Juan Billingsley, Jimmy Billingsley, Joe Ed Billingsley, and Bobby Billingsley and by a sister, Alice Holt.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ruth Holt Billingsley, one son, Keith Billingsley (Gina) of Scaly Mountain, three daughters, Sherry Holt (Keith) of Highlands, North Carolina, Carolyn Raby, of Scaly Mountain, Lynn Vinson (Scott) of Scaly Mountain, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 2, 2017, at the Flats of Middle Creek Baptist Church in Scaly Mountain, with the Rev. Jamie Christian officiating. The Rev. Marty Kilby conducted the graveside service. Burial was in the Church Cemetery.
Hunter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
