James Howard Hastings, 61, of Lakey Creek Road, Franklin, North Carolina, died Feb. 15, 2017, at his residence. He was the husband of Kathy Chastain Hastings.
Born in Macon County, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Howard Hastings and Katherine Kell Hastings. He was a self-employed house painter and was of the Church of God Faith.
He was preceded in death besides his parents by a sister, Phyllis Johnson.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Chastain Hastings of the home, by two brothers, Kenneth Hastings of Clayton, and Mark Hastings of Franklin, North Carolina, and two sisters, Donna Layman of Sevierville, Tennessee, and Sharon Sexton of Lakemont.
Funeral services were Monday, Feb. 20, 2017, at 1 p.m., with Layman Lloyd Hunter officiating. Burial followed in the Macedonia Cemetery.
The family received friends Sunday evening, Feb. 19, 2017, from 6-8 p.m. at the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home. The family was at the home of his sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Robert Sexton on Kell Lane Lakemont.
