Jessie Caroline Picklesimer Owens

Jessie Caroline Picklesimer Owens, 95, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017.

Mrs. Owens was born in Macon County to the late John Wesley and Gertie Rogers Picklesimer. She was married to the late Rev. Harry Owens. Mrs. Jessie enjoyed gardening, canning, fishing and her chickens. She kept a garden and chickens until she was 93. She was a true pastor’s wife and was a “Memaw” to everybody. She was also a faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Jewel Wolfrey of Clayton, and Juanita Faught (Don) of Woodbridge, Virginia; two sons, Ken Owens (Jane) of Clayton, and Harold Owens (Ruth Ann) of Tennille; 10 grandchildren; 18 great‑grandchildren, and one great‑great-grandchild; and a brother, Burt Coolidge Picklesimer.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, at Macedonia Baptist Church. with the Revs. Rusty Wolfrey, Ronnie Owens and Clinton Owens officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30‑2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
